Martin Luther King Jr Inspiration

Jan 18, 2021
Martin Luther King, Jr. had a Capricorn Sun and clearly, he was inspired by the spirit of integrity, discipline, self-responsibility, and social change.
A sentiment connected to Capricorn is "pull yourself up by your bootstraps", meaning we have the power to shape our circumstances. Yet, this view does not take into account the systemic circumstances that affect our ability to do so.

MLK, Jr.'s response is, "It’s all right to tell a man to lift himself by his own bootstraps, but it is cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps.”

His Venus was in Pisces which is the ultimate ability to experience unconditional love. Venus is how we connect with ourselves and others and Pisces is the infinite waters of the Mystery. She loves being here.
No wonder love and non-violence stayed at the center of his movement building.

“Love is creative, understanding goodwill for all men. It is the refusal to defeat any individual. When you rise to the level of love, of its great beauty and power, you seek only to defeat evil systems. Individuals who happen to be caught up in that system, you love, but you seek to defeat the system.”
He was born at the end of an Evening Star Venus phase, so she was near her brightest in the West after sunset. This is the expression of our heart wisdom matured through being humbled and reborn.

After the youthful vigor of the Morning Star has died in the Underworld and been resurrected as Evening Star, we can empathize with other's suffering in a more tangible way, if we stay open. Through the loss, our hearts can become more compassionate, not defeated or bitter.

His Moon was also in Pisces emphasizing this theme of spiritual attunement and the ability to merge with another's experience that is different from his own. A need to serve and heal is connected to Pisces.

His Mercury was in Aquarius - so his mind was aligned with the idealistic, innovative, cutting edge ideas of revolutionary systems change. He also possessed the intellectual ability to make meaning of a wide range of abstract concepts to help him understand interconnectivity and use this to unite people.

His Mars was in Gemini (ruled by Mercury) and retrograde. Mars represents how we get what we want. He definitely leaned into his mind to strategically move forward his mission and was gifted with verbal skills. Yet, this is also an indicator of indecisiveness and sometimes infidelity.

That Capricorn Sun energy may have assisted him to keep moving when we experienced doubts. And then he could bring those doubts into consciousness through speaking to them and then moving everyone past them into hope and inspiration.

What I am struck by as I revisit his work today is how deeply he was aligned with Source within, which he experienced as God. He was a person of deep faith and it transmits through his words and voice, which always open my heart.

The other thing I am struck with is how young he was when he was assassinated. He had not even gone through his mid-life transits yet, which are the time when life gives us a huge boost in our evolution if we are on the path of consciousness.

I can only imagine how his wisdom and influence would have ripened if he had continued on his path to achieve racial equality and build the beloved community if he had more time on Earth.

May those who feel his spark carry forward the revolution with love. Firmly rooted in love and respect for our fellow humans.

We are re-dreaming the world together now, eyes wide open.
