The Virgin Queen’s Jewel: Women Embodying the Sacred Feminine
Jul 22, 2021
We are entering some magical portal times where spaciousness dances with tension as we move through the deconstruction of the old order and learn how to hold the frequency for the new.
The Sacred Feminine is resurrecting through our choice to live deeper in our bodies and move from our hearts. This shift has been building since 2012 when Venus eclipsed the Sun in June and we opened the door wider to a new reality with the end of Mayan long count calendar at December Solstice when our Sun radiated from the Galactic Center for the first time in 26,000 years. Some indigenous leaders called this threshold, “the rise of the female nation”. I think of it as the dawning of the Solar Feminine; the key to open a new age when beauty and kindness are wedded with power.
Are you feeling the call to remember and embody the deep feminine and walk the path of heart as we move deeper into the Age of Aquarius? Are you awakening to your power to co-create reality?
Many kindred spirits are remembering and connecting across the globe at this watershed moment where timelines are splitting. One possible dystopic future is that dominator culture continues, emboldened by technology to assault nature and organic life. The other utopian possibility is that humanity wakes up to our magnificence to co-create a new world through harmonizing with the natural design of life and activating our organic technology from within.
Venus represents this sacred feminine energy. Her greater cycle represents the blueprint of life in 3D reality, along with the liberation into our multidimensional nature. Venus meets the Sun in divine union aligned with her closest point with Earth once every 19 months and transmits a fresh invitation to learn about the feminine mysteries through life, death and rebirth. Nine and a half months later, she revisits this alignment furthest from Earth from behind the Sun - inviting us to go deeper within and discover the secrets of resurrection from our Essence that never dies.
Venus is currently rising as Evening Star and entered Virgo yesterday riding very close to the fixed star Regulus, the brightest star of the Lion constellation. Venus is visible in the west before sunset and sets with sparkles and flash after night has come. Once dark, Regulus is visible beside her. We can sync with her cycle to connect with our own Feminine Essence and align with the current evolutionary energies.
Today, the Sun, our star representing Creative Source, moves into Leo - the sign that it rules or has “guardianship” over. Today, many also celebrate the Feast Day of Mary Magdalene, the “disciple of all disciples” of Yeshua whose reputation was smeared by the Church in an attempt to diminish her mastery. This blossoming of devotion to the archetype of a human woman embodying divine codes is precious at this time, as many women feel the call to do the same.
In the sequence of the zodiacal flow, the consciousness of Virgo devotes to the inner work or refining oneself, increasing accuracy and engaging in purification at all levels to be ready to meet “Sacred Other” in the next sign of Libra. Sacred Other can be Source itself. This is engaging in the work of radical responsibility that produces true sovereignty. Perfection can get twisted and Virgo gets a bad rap for this tendency. Yet, the Buddhist path considered the most profound and direct path to enlightenment is called “The Great Perfection” and aims to wake practitioners up to their inherent purity. The art of perfecting feels amazing when moving from a state of relaxation and openness. Add the tension and pressure rife in dominator culture and the shadow side of Virgo manifests. New models of devotion are arising.
The image for Virgo is a woman carrying a “shaft of wheat” and the archetype is the maiden or virgin. However, the original meaning of virgin was “whole unto oneself” and does not necessarily correlate to a young girl, but to a spiritual woman who is not reliant on a man or anyone to become an actualized being. Virgo devotes herself to selflessness, purity of heart and often is in service to the Mystery, God, Goddess, Source. In the times before agriculture, Virgo was the maiden holding the jewel, not a shaft of wheat. I suspect that this jewel was pointing to the powers of women’s wombs to create life and the secret of bringing forth special beings through immaculate conception.
Virgo connects to the “vestal virgins” of ancient Greece; priestesses trained in the tantric arts and revered as powerful healers in that culture. Virgin in this sense was not about sex but about a path of devotion independent from reliance on a husband for safety, stability and value. Historically, marriage as an institution has been a major tool to control and oppress women’s true power, which threatened the state. The major asteroid Vesta is connected to Virgo and I use it as a co-ruler for this sign (along with Mercury.)
Venus in Virgo Invites us to embody the holy in the ordinary, to tend to the care of the inner ecosystem and connect with the richness of the outer ecosystem of nature. This archetype is connected with wise women, healers, witches, priestesses, midwives, crones - the ones who were hunted throughout history and burned during the Inquisition.
Regulus, the heart of the Lion constellation, moved into the sign of Virgo in 2011 after being in Leo since 148 BC. Fixed stars move very slowly, about one degree every 72 years and, because of precession will change signs about every 2,160 years. Regulus is one of the royal stars of Persia considered the Guardians of the Heavens, representing the cardinal directions and the cross-quarter holy days that fall during the halfway points between equinoxes and solstices. In the modern Celtic map, Llamas is celebrated in Leo, Samhain in Scorpio, Imbolc in Aquarius and Beltaine in Taurus.
Regulus is the “Watcher of the North” and is considered to be hot and strong in nature and related to power and success. This royal star has been riding through fiery Leo for 2000 + years and then shifts into Virgo and the sign of the priestess the year before Venus crosses the face of the Sun and activates the return of the sacred feminine principle as we usher in the Age of Aquarius. Interesting, yes?
Venus in Virgo near Regulus evokes the Virgin Queen holding the jewel. What is she teaching us? Go out and open your heart to her light and see what you receive. Perhaps she is inviting us to connect with our preciousness, awaken our DNA and remember our creative powers so that we may hold the frequency for an incredible future. Syncing with Venus can amplify these energies and attune to our own sacred hearts.
Venus is currently opposed to Jupiter retrograde in Pisces - expanding the watery consciousness that connects us to the Mysteries. As Venus is setting in the west, Jupiter is rising in the east. The two benevolent planets in a harmonious polarity. Watch them both if you can find the view and experience and opposition in your own body.
We approach the full Moon in Aquarius on Friday and the Peak Venus Portal on July 26th, but is stronger the evening before on July 25th, as Venus will be visible in the same oppositional dance with the Moon. Venus setting in the west in Virgo as Moon rises in the east in Pisces.
Syncing with Venus elegantly assists us to shed identity and align with our Essence. If you wish to experiment with it - notice the full Moon energies without “feeding them” with attention and ceremony. Instead, plan your honoring ceremony for Sunday or Monday at the Peak Venus Portal and see what happens in your body and heart. You may discover less intensity, reaction and attachment to the stories of who you are and how it’s been.
This month is an added bonus in that Sunday is the “Day out of Time” in Mayan Galactic year - the gap between the old calendar and the new one that begins on July 26th. This is a portal between time, a day of honoring the liminal nature of reality and focusing on cyclical instead of linear time, a time when “all and nothing exist simultaneously”. It’s a potent day to “schedule nothing” and allow time to be free-flowing and see what unfolds by following your own inner guidance. I highly recommend it.
Next week we move toward the peak of the “Lion’s Gate” on 8/8. Sirius, our brightest star, has been rising with the Sun from the end of May until mid August, so invisible for us but opening us an energetic portal as it is synergizing with the Sun’s light. Sirius is called the Dog Star as it is in the constellation of Canis Major. This brightest star was linked with Isis and considered the “Giver of Life” by the Egyptians as at that time of year the Nile river flooded and brought forth the needed water for their sustenance. Another activation of the Sacred Feminine during these turbulent times.
May Venus inspire us on our heroine’s journey, remembering what we learned in the depths of the Underworld (From early February to early May in 2021) and finding the courage to bring that wisdom to the world in the way that is ours to do. Blessings on your path, brave one.
